INTRODUCTION

Badrinath is situated in Uttrakhand a holy town for Hindus. It is among the most important of the four sites in Indian Chardham (pilgrimage). This place is called Nagar Panchayat also. Badrinath is on the bank of the Alaknanda River at an altitude of 3133m. This temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu.

The temple opens only for six months because of weather condition in Himalayas. There are so many natural hot water pools Tapt kund, Narad kund etc. It is people’s belief that if devotee will wish something here with clear and pure heart will definitely get that.

ATTRACTIONS:

There are so many serene and holy spots which belongs to Lord Vishnu and some natural hot water pools are also worth to visit.

BRAHMA KAPAL Brahma kapal is on the bank of river Alakananda where Lord Brahma is believed to reside. It is 100 mtrs north of Badrinath temple. It is also known as the place where lord Vishnu relieved from his curse of killing Brahma.

CHARAN PADUKA Charan paduka is a beautiful rock, holding the foot prints of lord Vishnu. It is at the height of 3380 feet and quiet risky. It is peoples believe that holy darshan of this place relieves the problems and troubles of devotee’s life.

NARAD KUND Narad kund is situated on the bank of river Alaknanda. The water of this pool is very hot so it is hard to take long bath here. Generally people take one dip in water before entering the temple. The scenic beauty and its surroundings make this place very popular among tourist.

VASUNDHARA FALLS It is 5 km from Bheem bridge. This is very beautiful waterfall. The most interesting thing about this waterfall is that the water here become vapour and vanishes into the atmosphere. It is awesome place to visit.

MANA VILLAGE It is a very small village near Badrinath. Its population is 200. This is the last village of India on the Indo- Tibetan border. This village is set by Indo- Mongolian tribe. People come and live here for six months when temples doors open. Theses peoples are very hard working so they have small scale industries of woolen clothes. In which women knit and weave sweaters, carpets. In the starting they traded with Tibet but now tourists come in plenty to this village.

JOSHIMATH This place is 42 km from Badrinath. Shankeracharya meditated here and founded a Mutt called Jyotir math or Joshimath. There are so many orchards like apple, peach, apricot and lemon. There are so many hotel, bungalow and tourist places.

HOW TO REACH:

Badrinath is easily accessible by bus, car or by train. The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun which is about 317 km from Badrinath. The nearest railway stations to Badrinath are at Rishikesh and Kotdwar, which are at a distance of 297 km and 327 km respectively. There are regular buses operating to Badrinath from Delhi, Haridwar and Rishikesh. .
