INTRODUCTION:

Nainital is a town in Uttaranchal Pradesh . Nainital is set in a valley which is having 2 miles long lake surrounded by mountains. Nainital is filled with scenic natural places and varied natural resources. Lake is the main attraction of this place. Nainital is divided into two parts Tallital and Mallital with the lake separating them. Weather wise Nainital is quiet pleasant. Summers are warm and maximum temperature reaches 220 degree and during winters temperature may be sub zero. Nainital receives snowfall during December and January.

ATTRACTIONS:

There is countless attractions in Nainital. There is something for every age. It is really beautiful hill station in India.

NAINI LAKE Lake is the main attraction of Nainital. Its spread in huge area. You can do boating and paddling here in this lake. Charges are Rs 20 to Rs 50. It looks awesome in sunny day and in night when moonlight or hotel light reflects in lake water. You cannot eat any edible items such as wafers during boating its restricted there to preserve the lake. If you litter anything in Lake they will charge you fine.

ZOO There is a zoo in Nainital which is 1 mile away from bus stand at an altitude of 2100 meters. Its full name is GOVIND BALLABH PANT HIGH ALTITUDE ZOO. There are variety of animals. It close on Monday , all national holidays and on Holi/ Deewali time. Entry fee in zoo is Rs 25 for adults and for kids it is Rs 10. For camera you have to pay some extra money . Its free for adults.

ROPEWAY You can enjoy Nainital from the heights. There is ropeway facility provided. Rope way connects the Snow view point which is on the top at 2270 mtrs from there you can see the natural wonder which spread in Nainital. There you can do photography. There are so many fancy dress shops you can rent a dress there and can do photography or if you are not having camera you can give your address to them they can post you your photographs.

OBSERVATORY In Nainital there is an observatory called ARYABHATTA RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF OBSERVATIONAL SCIENCE (ARIES). It is situated on Manora peak 1 km from Hanuman garhi. You can visit there either by foot or by car its 9 km. from Nainital. It is center of astronomical studies and optical tracking of satellites. The observatory is open for general public but prior permission to visit this place is must.

TIFFINS TOP It is at the altitude of 2292. To get there you can drive up to Sherwood College then can turn to scenic walk. You can go there by horse also. (Rs 300) You can hike also to get there it will be more enjoyable. There you will find the crowd of peoples shop and scenic view. Tiffin’s top commands an excellent view of the Himalayan as well as the neighboring country side.

COVES GARDEN It is 2 km up from Mallital. There is a cove complex. There are 6 coves tiger, panthers, bats, flying fox and apes. As soon as you get forward coves become narrow. It is also a place to visit in Nainital if you are more adventurous.

NAINA DEVI TEMPLE There is one of very famous temple Naina devi temple situated at the bank of famous Naini lake dedicated to goddess Naina devi.

CORBETT WATERFALL It is situated inside the Corbett national park which is approx. 36 km from Nainital . This waterfall is surrounded by forest and provides a natural looks. This is good for picnic or camping.

HORSE RIDIDNG you can do horse ridding in Nainital to go one mountain to other mountain. Inside Nainital horse ridding is strictly prohibited.

NUM KAROLI BABA AASHRAM & TEMPLE KAINCHI This temple is 18 km from Nainital on the road going to Almora. This temple dedicated to Neem Karoli baba a hindu religious center. This is very famous temple among Indian Hindu’s. Thousand s of devotees visit this temple every year.

CHINA PEAK China peak is called Naina peak . It is the highest point in Nainital. It is at the altitude of 2611 mtrs and 6 km from the main town. From this peak we can see entrancing view of snow covered Himalaya’s mountains Bandar punch is in west to Api and Nari Peaks of Nepal in the East , a full Himalayan range is on one side and on other side you can see the lake city of Nainital in its full grandure . Pony and horses can be hired to visit this place.

KILBURY Kilbury is a perfect place and a picnic spot for solitude and relaxation with a forest house. It is 10 km from Nainital . The trail continue the China peak range to Binayak and Kunjkarak though the thick forest of oak and deodar.

MALL ROAD Nainital mall road called GOVIND BALLABH PANT MARG . It is lined up by many hotels , restaurants travel agencies, shops and other business concerns. In month of May & June mall road is closed for vehicles traffic to facilitate mall strolling which is the famous attraction for all the tourist. Other side of this there is thandi road . It is comparatively less busy and have Pashan devi temple. Vehicles are not allowed on Thandi road.

Nainital is the finest and the most exclusive place for shawls and woolen clothes. Variety of wax candles also you will find there with gel and scent.

HOW TO REACH:

Nainital is easily accessible with the rest part of country though different modes of transport.

The nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is 35 km away from Nainital. There are daily bus services from Delhi. The buses leave from ISBT Anand Vihar Delhi and are run by Uttrakhand Roadways. Driving to Nainital takes 7 to 8 hrs from Delhi. Its highway driving through out NH 24 connects Delhi to Rampur via Hapur. At Rampur turn and head north on NH 87 all the way up to Nainital.

Nainital is served by Pantnager airport located about 2 hrs away. It is only served by Jagson airlines. It is one of the least busy airport in the country.

There are few cycle rickshaws in town. Rates are fixed at 10 Rs from one end of the mall to other.
