INTRODUCTION:

Delhi the capitol of India is the largest metropolis in India in so many aspects located on the bank of river Ganga. Delhi is an expansive area. It is located in northern India. Delhi is said to be one of the oldest existing cities in the world. Delhi's climate is infamously bad. From April to October temperature are scorching hot (over 40 degree C) and the monsoon rains relieves the city in July and August. Every air conditioner running at full blast. In winters specially December and January temperature near dip to zero causing several flight delays and cancellation. The good season for Delhi is (Feb-Apr, Sep-Nov) are comparatively pleasant but very short.

ATTRACTIONS:

Delhi is filled with countless attractions. You need to have some time and days to explore Delhi. It is very beautifully crafted with monuments, historical buildings, temples, museums, churches and many more. The Government of India Tourist Office offers daily tours, covering all of the major Delhi sites. If you should choose to go with the government sanctioned day tour, be aware that due to the heavy agenda, you will need to have a quick foot, only twenty to forty minutes are given for each sight. If there is a sight of particular interest, bookmark it and return at a later date. Please note that there are various private 'tourist information' offices around Connaught Place openly claiming to be the official government tourist office. These offices are selling their own travel packages and have nothing to do with The Government of India. The local police can always be reached at 100 (much like the 911 in US) and in case of foreign tourists they do act swiftly.

RED FORT It is one of the foremost attraction for tourist it is made of red sand stone built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (who built Agra's Taj Mahal ). There are so many point in the fort which attracts you. The only open entrance is Lahore gate. Security around the gate is very heavy. Tickets rate is 10 Rs. for Indians and 250 Rs. for foreigners. Photography is free here but you have to pay 25 rupees extra for video camera. Its open sunrise to sunset daily except Monday. The fort has light show and sound show (50 Rs.) in the evening from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm depending on season too.

QUTUB MEENAR It is in South Delhi. This place is excellent for day picnic. Open daily sunrise to sunset. Tickets price are 20 Rs. For Indians and 250 Rs. For foreigners. Light and sound shows held after sunset.

RAJ PATH This is the main parade ground that leads to the presidents residence. Security is strict in this area. When you visit this place you will see the greenery all around and the infrastructure is very solid here.

INDIA GATE This monument has been built as memorial for the Indian soldiers who died in world war one. Here you can do boating in artificially created lake and they will charge you 20 Rs. for that per person. You can play in the garden around India gate and will find lot of hawkers around there .

LODHI GARDEN It is situated in the heart of new Delhi. Lodhi garden is ideal for morning walk in the summer.

LOTUS TEMPLE It is in shape of Lotus flower located in South Delhi. This stunning temple suspended above milky blue ponds is surely the most magnificent monument ever made of concrete. free entry is here open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm summers 9:00 am to 5:30pm winters.

GURUDWARA BANGLA SAHIB It is most famous Gurudwara in Delhi near to Connaught place. Here you need to cover your head with scarves which will provide you there for free. It is very beautiful Gurudwara.

SWAMINARAYAN AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE It is in East Delhi off national highway 24. It covers huge area, made of sand stone and very beautiful structure. In this temple you will find golden statue of Swami Narayan surrounded by God and Goddesses. There are lot many things to do in this temple. 4d movie, nauka vihar, musical fountain and some special presentation shows @ 150 Rs only but it is worth or you have never ever see this type of temple in your life in India. Wonderful architecture. Parking lot is very well arranged and it covered huge area.

ZOO Delhi Zoo lies near the famous old fort one of the best Zoo in entire continents. Its best quality is that they want to provide animals and birds their natural habitats and these are from around the world like Africa, America, Australia etc. The best way to view this Zoological Garden is on an open roofed mobile van available at affordable charges within the Zoo. There is a cafeteria outside the zoo.

HOW TO REACH:

You can access Delhi by Air, Bus or by Train easily. Indira Gandhi international airport is the arrival point for many visitors into Delhi. The airport is split into three terminals domestic terminal commonly known as Palam airport. The Delhi buses are not as comfortable. The Delhi transport corporation is the major operator by every state also runs its own buses. In Delhi there are three railway stations where generally trains arrive. Old Delhi, New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations. New Delhi railway station now conveniently connected by metro line 2 just minute apart. It will take 40 minutes to an hour to travel railway station to airport by car. Inside Delhi you can travel by metro, city buses, taxi, auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws.

SHOPPING:

Delhi is the place for shopping lovers it is kind of heaven for them but only if you are irritate by touch of peoples because of over crowded streets and need to walk too. It is tough to start there are numberless areas where you can do shopping. It is full of malls, Indian old style markets and underground markets.

CANNAUGHT PLACE is a unique cross between European shopping arcade, an Indian bazaar and up market shopping mall.

CENTRAL MARKET-LAJPAT NAGER is good place for middle class Indians. Here you will find plenty of shops, great deals ethnic Indian dresses and furnishing items curtains, rugs and many more.

SAROJINI NAGER MARKET is specially for college students or teenagers. In this market you can do so much bargain. You will find here top to toe every thing of todays fashion for every age men, women, boys, girls or for kids too. Latest fashion apparels introduce here very quick.

PALIKA BAZAAR is underground market full of DVD's, VCD's and PC related games. You will find here Indian style cloths also like Kurti's. Quality wise it is basic.

CHANDNI CHOWK is the heart of old Delhi. This is the place to go for the full on Indian experience of crowded, twisting alley and tiny shops.

DILLIHAAT is located in South Delhi near the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), is a place where crafts fairs happen every few weeks. It is a wonderful place to get crafts from all over the country. The artists themselves come to sell their goods, so your money goes directly to them, rather than to middlemen. Some bargaining may be necessary if you want the best price. Prices are higher than else where. It also has a section called Foods of India. This has a huge number of restaurants, each showcasing the food of a particular state of India. (Most of them give a mix of Chinese and Indian food, but state delicacies are also included). This section is a must-go for the foodie tourist.

SELECT CITY WALK is a largest mall in Delhi located in Saket. It is constructed in western style. While expensive but you will find international retailers here.

NEHRU PLACE is an IT hardware market complex and a perfect place for finding gadgets at very cheap rates. It is also a huge marketplace for both pirated and original software. Any computer-related accessory can be found here, but parking is a monumental problem. Beware of congestion and pickpockets. Open Mon-Sat.

FOODING:

Delhi is the hub of National and International cousins but in summers meat is risky in Delhi. Delhi has the best street food in India but if you are not from Delhi and a visitor it is not possible to get rid of some food poisoning or worse so be careful. In Delhi there are many budget and mid range restaurants as Haldiram’s, Sager ratna, Khan chacha, Egg parathey wala, Karims, Club India cafe, Sarvana bhavan and many many more.

Here you will find lots of Chines, Japnese, Thai, Middle eastern restaurants too. For coffee and tea Barista, Costa coffee, Cafe coffee day are famous. There are numberless bars and nightclubs Aqua, Elevate, Indo Chinese forbidden city, Orange and so on.

ADVISE:

Delhi is dusty and hot city so be careful and take care of yourself. Eat healthy, live healthy and drink only and only bottled water. Delhi is increasingly unsafe for women so be careful and keep your belongings safely.
