NEELKHANTH TEMPLE (INDIA)

INTRODUCTION:

Neelkanth temple is situated at the distance of 12 Km from Rishikesh and 22 Km from Swarg Ashram in Haridwar surrounded by the snow capped mountains and forest. This temple is considered one of the most famous temple of Rishikesh. It is dedicated to lord Shiva. This is the place where lord Shiva drank poison and his throat turned blue from that time lord Shiva came to known as "Neelkanth".The temple complex also has one natural spring where devotee usually take bath. People offer milk, coconut, flowers, fruits and water to the lord. This is very beautiful temple generally people wish something and its people faith that whatever they wish they will surely get that. Mainly in Sawan (July-Aug)there you will find great crowd and on all Monday too because month of Sawan and Monday both are dedicated to lord Shiva so generally Shiva bhakt (devotees) visits this place during this month. Two festivals are annually held here on the occasion of Shivrati (Feb-March) and Shivratri of Shrawan (July-Aug) at this time thousands of pilgrims visit here .This temple is very true if you will wish here something with pure heart lord Shiva will give you definitely its people faith.

ATTRACTIONS:

This temple in itself a most beautiful attraction in Rishikesh. The view of mountains, forests and greenery is wonderful. If you are hiking lover you can visit this temple by hiking way it takes 4 hours from Rishikesh. It will make your visit to temple more colorful. You can also do river rafting in foamy holy Ganga river water. In Rishikesh you can enjoy Lakshman jhoola also. These are the near by attractions of this place. This is good trip for adventure lovers too.

HOW TO REACH:

To access this temple is very easy .You can reach here by bus,taxi or by your own car.You can take a taxi from haridwar or rishikesh to this temple.These taxi's are regular to this place from rishikesh.They daily do up and down 2 or 3 times in a day.In a taxi generally they want 8 to 10 people to fill it sometimes it become overloaded.There is no horse ,palki,or halicopter facility.
